Updates from the workshop
August.
Recently we have received a very rare violin by George Pearce, London, 1847.
Pearce was a pupil of William Forster, and made many instruments for Forster.
This is the only violin we have ever seen bearing the label of Pearce. In the book "The history of the violin, by William Sandys & Simon Andrew Forster" it is mentioned that Pearce only made one complete violin under his own name, which was of his very best work. It seems probable that this is the very same violin. Please contact Paul or Dave for further details on this unique instrument.
