Instruments and Bows

We always have a comprehensive selection of antique & modern instruments & bows, suitable for beginner through to professional level.

Examples of the English, German, French and Italian schools are always represented in our stock of fine instruments. We are happy to assist with the selection of an instrument, which customers can try in the privacy of our music room. As our stock is constantly changing, please contact us for details of what is currently available.

Although we have many 18th, 19th and 20th century examples on display, Paul and Dave both make their own new instruments, which are individually hand crafted using rare old tonewoods. We usually have at least one of these available from stock, but we are always happy to discuss your requirements.

For those on a more modest budget, we have a range of handmade Chinese instruments, which offer exceptional value for money. All of these are set up and adjusted here in the workshop to ensure optimum playing qualities. Students in full time education are able to purchase these instruments excluding VAT through the assisted purchase scheme. This enables you to save 17.5% on the retail price. Our approval scheme is available to all customers who are trying out instruments and bows with a view to purchase. We allow items to be taken out of the shop for a period of one week, subject to the usual guarantees and a small insurance fee.

In addition to older French, English and German bows, we stock the work of several award winning contemporary makers, such as Robert Pierce and J.S. Finkel.
We have a large range of hand made Brazillian models to choose from, covering quite a broad price range. Very good pernambuco sticks and nicely finished frogs, available with nickel or silver mounts. These have proved to be very popular with teachers, and many have begun to recommend them to their pupils.
Carbon bows by Coda are popular with students and professionls alike. They play beautifully and provide a strong focused sound. Most of the Coda range is covered by a 10 year warranty.
